I caught a bit of this show just the other day and the effects looked neat, but I'm afraid I didn't see enough to make me fannish. Maybe I'll see if I can catch it again, just for you OP!

It is a Syfy show. They are not known for their huge fandoms.

Having ships isn't necessary for a show to succeed, but it is a really useful hook to have if you want to sell a show to people in fandom.

I don't know anything about this show but to be honest, even though I like ghosts, it's still going to be hard to sell me on a show that's apparently about another Big Broody Dude and apparently has no ships that would appeal to me.

God, this show is amazing. I actually checked out the show because I still love Avan Jogia from way back in his VicTorious days, as well, Vincent D'Onofrio from Law & Order Criminal Intent AND Kim Coates! Oho, and let's not forget Meat Loaf! I mean, there's actually a decently known cast in the show and it has a good story line despite it being a Syfy show. x3 More people need to watch! Anon, let's spread the word! xD

I have a secret fondness for Syfy shows, but I haven' t seen this one yet. I'll have to change that.

There are dragons being shipped in other fandoms. And in the Supernatural fandom, you can find just about anything, including actual dogs.

I like Avan Jogia and it sounds interesting, but this is the first I've heard of it.

Thank you for reminding me I started watching this show when it came out, and then promptly forgot about it because I am shit about keeping up with shows on a weekly basis.

I did love it though, the two episodes I saw.

And dude, being dead never stopped anyone from shipping anything.

They tend to get suddenly canceled, so some people avoid getting overly invested.

I agree full-heartedly that characters being dead never stop people from shipping because I'm kind of into a f/f pairing on the show but oops, one girl is very dead (and very angry about it).

Honestly, I think that has to do with all the silly movies SyFy has made over the years. I mean, would you be inspired to be in a fandom from a channel that made a film called Sharktopus or Piranhaconda? Or regularly casts Lance Hendrickson (who I actually low key like, lol)? I kind of think the problem is that Syfy has painted itself one way for so long that now that they're branching out and trying to make good shows (Blood Drive and Ghost Wars, for example), people are overlooking them because, 'lol, Syfy has another silly thing they made, I'll pass.' They kind of sterotyped themselves so the fandom for the decent shows are small to none. =/

Older syfy used to have strong fandoms - look at Stargate. Though even Stargate seems overlooked by the general populace - they never get mentioned in articles about great sci-fi shows, despite being around for almost 20 years. But syfy's newer stuff just seems to go quietly unnoticed.

Stargate started out on Showtime. It wasn't a Syfy original.

It could be a combination of marketing, international delay, and SyFy's reputation for suddenly cancelling shows partway through a season or at the end but with a cliffhanger.

I don't think this has aired in my country yet. I've never heard of it before now and I watch SyFy every morning before work. All the ad campaigns in recent months have been Blood Drive and then Dimension 404.
