(Anonymous) 2017-11-15 01:11 am (UTC)(link)But seriously, AGREED! I don't get the Barb love. She was REALLY judgmental & annoying.

(Anonymous) 2017-11-15 01:21 am (UTC)(link)That's why people liked Barb. She was a well-depicted character and she was relatable. And that's good. The same way it's good with Jonathan. Even if Jonathan isn't a perfect character either.

(Anonymous) 2017-11-15 01:35 am (UTC)(link)Seriously, watch Freaks and Geeks. Millie Kentner did it better and actually got a character arc beyond "judgemental buzzkill fails so hard she dies from it."

(Anonymous) 2017-11-15 01:54 am (UTC)(link)No hate, just honest confusion. She was essentially a throwaway. What you saw as a characterization job, I saw as a convenient set of tropes that functioned fine for an unimportant character, which... was fine. I was completely baffled by the adoration, and having been in the MCU fandom too, it smacked too much of the Darcy Syndrome.
Don't get me wrong, it's not worth hating her over, but I really think it's overselling it to call her a "good character".
