(Anonymous) 2017-11-16 05:13 am (UTC)(link)I don't agree with the position that you have to leave a review for every fic, or every fic that you enjoy above a certain threshold.
Re: Pet Peeves
(Anonymous) 2017-11-16 05:37 am (UTC)(link)But I think the problem with that philosophy is a lot of people use "oh well I just don't have anything interesting to say, if I had something to say I'd definitely review!" as an excuse. Many end up never having anything interesting to say, despite much hand-wringing. For many it's a way of justifying the behavior (which isn't inherently good or bad, but that they feel some measure of guilt over) by framing it as if the reader is somehow doing the writer a favor by not commenting.
It's a difficult topic to discuss because it's hard not to couch it in terms of who "has to" do what and there's a lot of weird shit going on under the surface, but overall I mostly think that we really underestimate the effect that readers have on what fic is being uploaded. It sometimes makes me apprehensive for the future of fic.

(Anonymous) 2017-11-16 05:39 am (UTC)(link)That's fine, but it does not seem to be what mrs don draper is saying

(Anonymous) 2017-11-16 05:45 am (UTC)(link)it isn't anyone's fault that you need reassurance. why do you even make your fic public? this entire thread seems... kind of dumb?
I've been writing fic for 10 years and I love kudos and bookmarks and nice comments, but I don't expect them or feel entitled to them. So I don't really know what you guys are on about, tbh.
it just makes somw of you look crazy
Re: Pet Peeves
(Anonymous) 2017-11-16 05:48 am (UTC)(link)It's not very nice to call people insane/crazy over something like this.

(Anonymous) 2017-11-16 09:10 pm (UTC)(link)Er, yeah. They're not the ones who look crazy, nonny.
