It's goofy, but I'm going to wait to see how her characterization is - at the very least - before I dismiss it.

The secret poster didn't say anything about characterization.

Just the outfit. They seem like they are planning to watch.

I guess it seems to me that you shouldn't consider the outfit without also considering the characterization, because they're so intimately linked.

ayrt

I see your point, but I think the whimsicality and quirkiness that they seem to be trying for here could be conveyed with different sorts of outfits, so I see the secret poster's point, too.

I think that's overstating things. I certainly wouldn't argue that dismissing the outfit = dismissing the character.

But the character might potentially provide necessary context for the outfit.

Agreed.

I'll still be watching but I hate that outfit, it's ridiculous.

I love it. I think it's cute as shit, and as far as Doctor outfits go, it's pretty tame. I mean, this is the alien who wore celery.

I like that it's not a tight skirt and high heels or any of the typically female things they could have done that would have been stupid when the Doctor's almost always getting himself into trouble and where heels or a skirt would be a liability.

I'm not sold on the short pants, but I actually like the rest. The last 4 Doctors have dressed relatively less weird so it's time we had a more weirdly dressed Doctor.
comma_chameleon: (Why?!)

Yeah, as much as I like guys in suits (and the leather jacket really suited Eccleston), I miss things like Four's scarf and all the other quirky things that sort of 'made' each Doctor. Even if One was sort of traditionally suited too.

Well 11 did have the Fez obsession...

Yeah, the trouser leg length is odd. But I like the shirt - a nod to Four's scarf and Six's general colour sense.

(Anonymous) 2017-11-17 02:24 am (UTC)(link)
Yeah, I agree with you.

Shallow anon is shallow

(Anonymous) 2017-11-17 02:28 am (UTC)(link)
You're everything wrong with the fandom and why people can't have nice things. Get out.

Nah. Her clothes are shit. :)

(Anonymous) 2017-11-17 03:11 am (UTC)(link)
I like the rainbow top and the characteristic floppy coat and the practical boots. Looks good to me.

(Anonymous) 2017-11-17 04:44 am (UTC)(link)
I'm in the "Don't like the outfit but will still be watching the show" camp.

(Anonymous) 2017-11-17 05:13 am (UTC)(link)
I like it. She looks fun. And boots are practical.

(Anonymous) 2017-11-17 05:39 am (UTC)(link)
Huh. She's Rule 63 Mork.

Nah, I like it. It's fun, it's cute, it's slightly oddball. It's very "Doctor"

(Anonymous) 2017-11-17 01:41 pm (UTC)(link)
I like everything except for the coat. The coat would look cool on its own, but combined with the other parts of the outfit looks baggy and ill-fitting. But everything else is A+ for me.

Also love the number of Doctor clothes secrets in this post.

(Anonymous) 2017-11-17 11:24 pm (UTC)(link)
Oh wow I hate that.

(Anonymous) 2017-11-22 06:11 pm (UTC)(link)
If they just ditch the suspenders and lengthen the pants, it will work. It just needs an edit, not a re-do.
