(Anonymous) 2008-06-26 06:23 am (UTC)(link)And that's great. So do I. But it doesn't make anime magically different or unique, considering how popular and widespread it is. There's so much of it that it doesn't always stand out simply because it's anime.
I'd take their art over realistic art any day.
And if that's what you like, there's nothing wrong with that. However, I don't think the OP is whining. Anime artists, even mediocre ones, are ludicrously overexposed and popular on deviantArt. A lot of amazing pros have lower pageviews, because they don't cater to that particular audience. So I would imagine that the OP is probably annoyed about not getting many pageviews on work they clearly cared about, and only started getting more pageviews now that they started doing anime. A lot of non-anime or non-fanart artists complain about this, and I've noticed a lot of artists doing art they wouldn't normally do just to gain pageviews, which always makes me a bit sad. Do what you love, whether it's popular or not. If it's anime, great, go for it; if it's not, that's great, too. But don't waste time catering to what other people want one way or the other if it's not what you want. Pageviews don't mean squat in the grand scheme of things.
