That was horrifying.

It just seemed so pointless to do an American pie challenge and then make things that barely resemble American pies.

Right? And, at the same time, to bitch about American pies like they were the worst things ever. Like - why bother? So ridiculous.

nayrt but that really bothered me. If you're going to do an American pie thing on Bake Off, why sneer about how awful they are with the implication that you're going to improve upon them? It struck me as cultural snobbery, and then they add insult to injury by not even fulfilling their own goal. How hard is it to look up American pie recipes and notice that we don't turn whole pies out of the pan before serving?

Oh, man, yes, that was *baffling*. And rather amusing that all of their 'pies' were rather horrible.

It was. No one seemed to know what an American pie was, including (especially) the judges.

Since fruit pie is my favorite dessert, with pecan pie a close second, I was horribly offended by that episode. Don't do a American pie episode if you don't actually know what it is. Taste the real thing, please, and learn something. Yes, even you, Hollywood.

Yeah, i was pretty annoyed. It just seemed like a set-up to dis American pies which...what's the point?

(Anonymous) 2017-11-22 03:33 am (UTC)(link)
Right? Nobody did apple pie, cherry, peach, blueberry, strawberry rhubarb, strawberry...

Damn, now I want pie. We have a fresh peach pie and a fresh pecan pie sitting on the counter, but they are for Thanksgiving. The temptation is real.
