"Trial by mob" is a very general, non-specific phrase.

Well, it's kind of hard to figure out what you're saying if you just say "trial by mob is wrong"?

Like, for instance, I can easily imagine someone describing the process by which Harvey Weinstein and Kevin Spacey and the rest have been removed from the public sphere as "trial by mob", and condemning it on that basis. But I don't agree with that criticism at all. So that's the kind of thing that I'm thinking of.
