I want to believe, OP. I really do.


IMO current fandom is far removed from what actual social justice was and is now being used as an excuse to step on their soapbox and yell "PEDO UNHEALTHY AGE DIFFERENCE I DON'T SHIP IT SO NEITHER SHOULD YOU". Because what better way to get people to stop shipping something than using real life issues to scare them away?

I mostly agree with your second paragraph. There are people who react negatively to May/December ships are sincere but a lot of it is just another tool in the fandom/shipping wars.

I can understand that and that's okay. Not everyone likes the same thing due to one reason or another and it's not my place to judge them for it. I personally don't like them much either but don't judge others if they do. But the fact that even a simple 2 year age difference is now being called a "pedo ship" raises my eyebrows.
