Ugh, I kind of hate that attitude, of 'if you don't like this you have no soul!!' or whatever. It's bullshit. People have different tastes.
I formally give you permission to not love this show.
Life's too short to force yourself to watch media you don't enjoy.

I like it but it's really not anything that I would say is a must see. It's an OK family show that sometimes has a few touching moments buried beneath the sap. It's never made me cry, either. The closest I came was when the foster daughter cut off her hair.

Not everyone likes the same things and that's okay.

Personally this isn't the kind of show I'm into so I've not bothered to give it a go, other people can love it as much as they want though, I just won't be joining in.

It's pretty divisive in places like the AVClub, certainly no 'you're heartless if you don't like this!' attitude.

The AV Club is also confused as to how the new Blade Runner movie flopped. I can't take them seriously. Or was that i09? I get them confused since AVC is now on Kinja.

I was taken aback by how sexist that movie is and how adamant it is for me to care more about the manpains

Spoilers for S1

I liked it a lot at first, but I got so tired of the whole "Ooh, how did Jack die? We're gonna tell you! No we're not!" that I haven't gone back to it this season. It's a little sappy, TBH, so don't feel bad.

Yes, I tried it too, but it was too sappy for me. I just couldn't get into it.

I only just found out this show existed a few weeks ago and I've never tried watching it.

"This is the one best thing and you must like it!" is so irritating. There's a lot of good TV out there, past and present. People don't all have to love the same thing.

Never watched it. It looked like a show in the exact same mold as Parenthood, and I hated Parenthood sooooo much.

That show is a manipulative tear-jerking pile of shit, despite some very good actors on it. (I'm a big fan of Sterling K. Brown, which is the only reason I started watching it, but the show annoyed me so much that I started fast-forwarding through other scenes, then gave up entirely and decided to wait for my fix in Black Panther!)

You are SO not alone. I tried watching the first two episodes (I always force myself to get at least one episode past the pilot) and found it boring as hell and gave up on it entirely. I just don't get the appeal. Then again, I love shows others hate, too - so I guess there's something for everyone out there.

My sister and my mom really like it, I gave it a shot, but really just Not My Thing at all.

This is going to sound so shitty. I have wanted to try it but haven't because of Chrissy Metz. I am overweight but used to be obese. I have lost a little over 110lbs in the last year and half. I am doing it the old fashion way of watching my calorie intake. I still have a ways to go before I am at my goal but it's reachable. And yes I am doing under the supervision of my doctor so it's healthy but slow weight loss. I have nothing against obese people and I wish them well. I just can't watch them behave like I used to. I hated the person I was and watching someone who looks like I used to look and deal with the issues I used to deal with isn't entertaining. I feel like a shitty unsupportive fat girl.

(Anonymous) 2017-11-23 04:46 am (UTC)(link)
I watched one whole episode of that when it premiered under old title and never felt the need to see more so eh, OP, all like different things. I do not know anyone who fancies this but some might.

I really enjoy this show but uh, it's definitely not for everyone.

(Anonymous) 2017-11-24 04:33 pm (UTC)(link)
I like the show, but I also have to be in a certain mood to watch the episodes.

Sorry people are making you feel bad for a different opinion, OP.
