A drunken middle-aged customer asked me for my number and tried to get me to go for dinner with him today. In front of a queue of about 7 people. I wanted the ground to swallow me. When I said no he toddled out the door singing "MY BABY SHOT ME DOOOOWN"

Ugh, what an ass. I'm sorry you had to deal with that.

eurgh, what a jerk

Getting through Asheville is usually the worst part of trip.

I wish I had more fandom friends in real life. I love my friends and my very best friend gets my fannish ways, but she's been super busy and I don't want to bother her to squee about fandom-related stuff. I just wish I knew how to make friends in general or had the nerve to go to a con or something, but the last time I tried to make friends with someone who was into the shows I liked, I got made fun of for being a poser because I'd just started watching the show a year ago and didn't get the most recent refrences.

We got too much stuff to make at once and my sister is not paying attention to her messages about whether or not she will be able to cook some of it. AAAARRGGGHHHHH.

I'm just so over today. Had to deal with jerks at work, the craziness of the grocery store on the night before Thanksgiving (which I shouldn't have done, but I needed food), and then when I got home, I was hanging out on a forum I sometimes post on while I was waiting for this post to go up, and there were a couple people who were either trolling or just legitimately idiotic assholes trying to start shit, and just...ugh.

I probably need to just go to bed because I got very little sleep last night and sleep always makes me feel better, but there's an online Black Friday sale I want to stop that starts at 3 AM and I don't want to miss it. Maybe I'll go take a nap and wake up in a few hours.

The other day, Supervisor S assigned me to create invoices for three contracts.

The first contract had a completely blank timecard. I asked S about it, and he told me there was an issue with one employee’s hours, so I should just skip that contract.

The second contract had written documentation that didn’t match the documentation in the database. I asked S which one was correct, and he realized a previous invoice might not have been sent out. He told me to skip that one.

I was almost finished with the third contract when I took a look at the remaining budget and discovered we’d already hit the contractual maximum. I asked S if I should still create the invoice. He told me to skip that one.

My bosses are amazed that I always finish my work so quickly. But I’d be occupied much longer, and bored much less, if they gave me tasks that were actually possible to finish.

I'm not a dog lover, but I saw a dog sitting out on the sidewalk in the rain on my way home today. It was a very good stayer, only briefly paying attention to people who walked by, and it had a leash on, so I'm sure its owner was coming back within minutes, but I wish I'd stuck around to see it myself because now I'm thinking about it and I feel sad.

I hate being sick over the holidays. I was hoping it was just allergies, but I've got a fever. I feel miserable. I really wanted to enjoy Thanksgiving.

a friend of mine has to be in the hospital having knee replacement surgery. I feel really bad for her. Hope you feel better real soon!

I'm tired of SJW's saying Thanksgiving is racist and shit.

Terrible things happened. They happen throughout history. If you want to blame people for not knowing the true history of how bloody it was, blame the education system that teaches a sanitized version instead of what really happened.

It still happened. I didn't do it personally and I'm tired of being attacked for mentioning I'll be having Turkey with family. I'm not even white either so being called a white bitch is extra annoying.

Eh, we could probably do without glorifying the day tbh.

I don't know anyone who actually thinks of Thanksgiving as a celebration of pilgrims and Indians having a happy time together. It's just a holiday to get together with family and eat special food, which is a kind of holiday that happens everywhere that holidays exist. Yeah, in my early elementary school years they pushed sanitized first Thanksgiving history on us, but my teachers back then had come of age in the 40s and 50s and had a lot of outdated attitudes, even by 80s standards.

The problem is First Nations people are still disenfranchised

Well, people do take it too far sometimes, of course.

What particularly bothers me about it is that - while of course it's important to be aware of the great shameful history of relationships with Native Americans - there's no actual reason for Thanksgiving as a holiday to have anything to do with that.

I just missed my bus and I have to get home in time to put my chickens away before any predators show up, and I have to make another run to the store tonight because I thought I’d be cooking for 4 and it turns out I’ll be cooking for 12 or maybe more.

My computer has been updating for like 2 hours and it's only at 54%

Customers asking if we have a certain item but they only give us a vague description...

Okay, describing a sweater or something to me as “it’s gray and doesn’t have a hoodie” IS NOT FUCKING HELPFUL.

And NO, I can’t just leave the fucking phone to go check out the silverware section in the corner of the damn store just to see if we have some brand of fork in stock. If I ask someone who CAN, it’s going to take a damn while during the fucking holidays.

I don't even celebrate Thanksgiving, and I don't eat meat so I don't eat turkey, but I have a stupid brain and I still manage to feel sorry for myself that if I did celebrate it I'd be doing it all by myself.

On the other hand that means no political arguments or awkward meetings with relatives so that's something to be, well, thankful for.

I'm having a generally bad week and all I want is to sleep it off.
