Chirrut and Baze were the best thing in R1. I always side with wanting more explicit representation when it comes to same sex pairings, especially if that means there are on-screen kisses, etc. For het, I kind of like if it's not mentioned (see Kanan/Hera, which was fine until they made it explicit). Unless it's a romantic movie, the romance is rarely done well and it's best to just leave it out (obviously there are exceptions, but overall this is my experience).
