What is 'detached humour'? I feel like I'm missing something obvious here, sorry.

Anti-vaxxers. Got into an argument with one last night. Crazy seeing those kinds of people in the wild.

Yeah, I forget how much it's caught on, but then I hear stories from my nurse friends and it feels like there are a lot of them.

These people will never get herd immunity. Not even if a worldwide plague broke out.

Same here, though from another angle.

It makes regular people paint those who need to abstain from certain injections due to documented allergies/awful side effects as crazies. Families with people like my brother who suffered a proven, government-paid-for-it allergic reaction to the Pertussis vaccine when it was live. In fact, babies like him are why the vaccine now has dead cells. He was one of the few lucky ones to "survive", if you call being non-verbal and in need of 24-hour care surviving.

So yeah, anti-vaxxers can suck it.

"speshul snowflakes!" discourse of all kinds

making everything 100 different flavors (toasted caramel apple browned almond blueberry quinoa smoothie with white chocolate shavings and orange rinds!)

i'm so so so over zombies

Re: Current trends you dislike

(Anonymous) 2017-11-25 12:26 am (UTC)(link)
all of the above

except maybe zombies, because they reached such a saturation point and became so much a part of the fucking furniture that i managed to ignore them as just so much wallpaper

With you on the zombies. I remember playing the first Resident Evil when I was 8 and having nightmares for weeeeks about them. Now they're so overdone they're almost comical.

grown women wearing dresses that look like they belong on little girls. About 100 years ago.

Did you hate Kat Bjelland from Babes In Toyland and Courtney Love back in the 90s?

also can I add... a refusal to see ANY difference between fictional likes and what one supports in real life? Yes fictional affects reality but it's more complicated than they make it out to be.

Political divisiveness

As long as people see things differently, that's going to happen.

Especially if it involves characters it makes no sense for. I mean, sure, you do you with your "soft Kylux uwu" but stop acting like it's anything remotely related to canon/IC for them.

Metafiction video games that mock or insult you for playing video games.

Hahaha yes. This, and also games that mock game creators.

The only metafiction game on this theme I've enjoyed was Little Inferno. The rest have veered too far up their own ass.

Cringe culture, because a majority of it makes fun of disabled people's (autism, intellectual disabilities, etc) interests.

People who are Instagram famous and shill for products via their feed.

Skinny jeans and leggings

Celebrity reality tv shows

Restaurants and food blogs acting like "rice bowls" are some new innovation rather than a variation on what Asian people have been eating for centuries

The bland-as-fuck aesthetic that dominates Etsy’s gift recommendations lists. I don’t even know how else to describe it. Stale Urban Outfitters chic?

Cropped pants, because I have long legs and cropped pants look ridiculous on me, and also because I get cold easily and cold ankles can fuck off.

High-waisted pants, because I have a very short torso and high-waisted pants make me look like I'm wearing my pants under my tits.

Bell sleeves of all forms. They're super in this year, and I think they're universally ugly.
