What sucks about the Hannibal fandom?

(Just curious. I've literally never seen anyone complain about it before and my impressions on tumblr have been that it's really chill.)

Different person, but although the Hannibal fandom is chill now it was a complete nightmare during season two. The show having good representation and Fuller's refusal to do sexual crimes because the murders in the show are quite stylised made it the darling of SJWs everywhere in season one. The climate changed quite a bit when during the hiatus one of the biggest names in the fandom started to become one of the people who use social justice as a way of bullying. Then Bev happened and the fandom just turned toxic because their Unproblematic King had dared to kill off a woc (which is always an issue but also occurred in the same week as three other major female characters were killed off, plus looking back on it she couldn't have survived without the show drastically changing directions). So a huge part of the fandom changed tunes instantly, and started saying the exact opposite of everything they had previously said. Like, directly contradicting posts from two days before the episode.

OP may be talking about a completely different problem with the Hannibal fandom, but it was my first experience with the toxicity of making something an ideal and how fickle people can be (about their own damn beliefs) the moment you do something that needs to be discussed as a potential issue. It kind of stuck with me.

For me it wasn't that he killed her off exactly. It was that he made her carry the idiot ball so she could be killed off. If she had been smart but Hannibal had simply been smarter, I could have lived with it. But it was just done terribly imo. I watched through the end of that season, when the second season finale made me decide to stop watching, but that was the turning point, where I started not to like the show as much.

I didn't really see the Fandom overall be terrible. Even if I was no a fan of all of the woobie-ing of Hannibal in some of the Hannibal/Will discussion and fiction. Then again, I did give up on the show and Fandom early-ish, so I could have missed things.

Ah, I wasn't around for that but that makes sense.

I didn't have a problem with them killing off Katz. She was quite possibly my favorite character on the show at that point, but it was kind of inevitable.
