This year I just asked for cat stuff. Seems practical to me.

Uh, good bedsheets is a great idea. Some cooking thing you don't have. Maybe a waffle iron? I asked for that one year. A practical nonfiction book that is about something you want to learn. Or maybe a new cookbook. A soft fleece blanket to use on the couch while watching tv is something I got one year, and I use it almost daily.
