While these are clearly glamor model shots, I don't really get it. Neither are that "pretty". I think the actor who plays Dean looks nice, but certainly not gorgeous. I thought Sam was prettier in the first season, when he was younger, not so jacked, and didn't have such long hair, but he sure wasn't an Apollo even then and now I really don't think he's pretty.

To each their own and all, but those look like two average looking dudes to me.

I legitimately find the actor who plays Sam unattractive now. Like... okay, he's fit so there's that (too bulky to be my thing though) but his face isn't great and his hair is yuck.

Jensen (Dean) was very twink when he was younger, and had shades of it in the first season of SPN, but he's grown out of it.

I find Dean moderately attractive, Sam is not attractive to me at all, and I've only ever watched SPN casually. But objectively speaking these guys are faaaar from average, and I'm not sure how anyone could think otherwise. I mean even if you just consider that they're tall and very fit with good skin and there's nothing distinctly bad looking about their faces, that already makes them better looking than a significant majority.

I would say they're above average even by Hollywood standards.

I just want to know where people live that they walk down the street and 50% of the people that they see are more attractive than these two.

Honestly, I think some people just have no ability to gauge looks as separate from what they personally find attractive. So if they find a particular person unattractive, they aren't really capable of seeing them as good-looking by more general standards. *shrugs*

That's my theory, anyway. Otherwise, I have no idea. Because I don't believe there is a place on this earth where the "average" person is better looking than Jared and/or Jensen.

What's with the "they"? left is ken doll, and that's whatever, but right is legitimately ugly. his hairline is gross, his eyes are too far apart, that nose is disgusting and he lacks an upper lip. I don't even know what Rory Gilmore was thinking

And for the record, to me, Sam is really unattractive. I hate his chin, his spaced eyes, his hair... pretty much all of it is unattractive to me.

Sure, by merit of being fit (I don't consider "tall" an inherent indicator of how attractive someone is, actually Sam's bulky size makes him even more unattractive to me), I suppose they get some points. But most anyone has the ability to get fit, they don't have the ability to change their faces and other features short of surgery.

Sure. But talking about "average" implies a judgment about their attractiveness relative to the population of men as a whole, which I think is what people have a problem with.

If you read my comment again you will notice that I didn't say anything about how objectively attractive they are. That's because attractiveness is largely subjective. So basically your entire comment is responding to assertions I never actually made. I am not telling you you should be attracted to these dudes. That is not a thing that's being said here.

"Looks" however are a different thing entirely. There is some variety to what western society deems good looking, but by almost any western standards, those two dudes are both well above average looking.
