I can't imagine it won't be this year. I got dumped by my "fiancé" and my brother is getting a divorce, so the family is going to feel dramatically smaller this year.

OP, your worst year sounds terrible. I've done the thing of having to move out in a hurry when I'm feeling sick, but over the holidays would suuuck.

I'm sorry, the whole shrinking family thing always feels crappy. At least you don't have to buy presents for them? Small consolation, I know, but if you can afford it maybe you should buy yourself an extra present this year instead.
