I wish that they'd so the Silmarillion (spelling?) instead. From seeing secrets here on F!S it seems like that would be interesting in and of itself, and also not retreading ground that's already been tramped.

No, he resigned from the Board of Directors. His sister and wife are still on it. The rights are still held by the Estate.
