I don't even get the point of being proud to be white. it just.. seems so BORING to me? I'm pretty sure I shouldn't say this because it would sound tacky and offensive but I'd love to be significantly part SOMETHING and not just "whitey white my ancestors were from Germany or something at some point and maybe a tiny bit native american"?

I mean the only notable thing about my family history is that I had an ancestor in the civil war but considering the side they were on that's NOT something I'm proud of.

Sorry for blabbing about stupid problems. I just meant to say I don't really get being proud to be white. Like.. wow congrats....your skin is white... we're a majority and part of one that's done horrible things to other people.....congrats?

It's one thing to be going "Yay, I have Irish heritage!" "Yay, I have English heritage!" But if you just say 'white' then you're literally saying "I'm proud to NOT be a POC"

I don't remember where I saw it, but there was an explanation about how, while most white people can trace at least a fair amount of their ancestry to Ireland or Norway or Italy or wherever, most black people would have a hard time getting that specific about their identity because there's no way of figuring out which parts of Africa their ancestors were kidnapped from.

The fact that I can trace my ancestry back to a specific city in Germany is because my ancestors had the privilege of being treated like people, not property, when they arrived in America.
