Yes, because the two of them actually had chemistry. Mon had ridiculous amounts of chemistry with Winn. Kara had ridiculous amounts of chemistry with literally everyone who wasn't Mon. For that matter, Kara and Mon had chemistry when they were playing it as Wise Older Sister With Bratty Little Brother.

But yeah, Mon and Winn totally won the chemistry game.

I’ve never shipped any of these characters and I still don’t (I never gave two shits about Thor or Loki before Ragnarok and I had only been interested in the Big Three for their solo work) but I came out of these movies desperate for more of their (platonic) relationships and interaction, and fandom is seriously failing at this. I think fanfic writers are good at gen plots but kind of shit at writing platonic relationships with intensity, humor, and heart-warming... -ness.
