I haven't watched DS9 in years, but I remember it quite fondly, and I was obsessed with it when it was airing. I really liked a lot of the characters and was interested in their arcs and complexity.

You should go for it, but if you run into an episode that you don't like, don't be afraid to skip to the next one. Seven seasons of 20+ episodes is a lot of TV, and they weren't all going to be gold. You can always go back to what you skipped later.
