The thing about Heath Ledger is that he was in a bunch of silly movies that he somehow turned into masterpieces solely with his acting and star quality. I mean ffs, when you're watching Casanova and thinking "this is pretty good"... that can only be Heath Ledger. Whatever it is, he had it.

I never saw his Joker.

+1

I've seen a lot of Heath's movies just for his acting ability. I just can't see the popular opinion of "he was whatever". Heath was a phenomenal actor. You don't watch him and think, "yeah, he's acting rn lol" like one might with Leonardo DiCaprio.

Idk, the people who I have come across (online only, I haven't met anyone irl who thought he was 'just okay' or even bad, and I work in the entertainment industry) have strong opinions on his acting seem to either want to be edgy or don't actually know what they find great in acting to begin with.

da

Yeah I think Heath Ledger was a bit like Tom Hardy in that he would completely become the character he was playing, unlike with most Hollywood actors where I can never divorce them from their famous personas.

Tom Hardy is a great example. Totally agreed on everything!

A Knight's Tale is still in my top 20 of favorite movies. It's a clever, fun little summer movie with no higher ambition than being a good time for an audience but Heath's performance is one of the things that makes it something special.
