Eh, my Mom likes to say that as far as she's seen, all marriages have the same chance of succeeding (50/50) no matter how long you've known each other before hand. Might be why my parents got married after four months and celebrated 33 years together this year. (And it's not a generational thing, because it's down right disturbing to me how many of my parents' childhood friends are on their third or fourth spouse.)

'Course, my parents didn't date so much as they courted with marriage being the object of the exercise. Wish we were still doing that openly.

(Also my father was older and had spent his youth sowing so many wild oats that he literally had to find a bride in another city because his rep in his home town was so terrible. )
