What holiday song do you hate the most?

The Christmas Shoes is the worst. Not only is it a shitty song that is played constantly, it tries to manipulate you with a shitty story about some poor kid. I HATE IT.

Every song that was on the retail store christmas cd that played non-stop for the entire month when I worked there 40 hours a week plus overtime.

Silver Bells.

I worked in Home Hardware as a wee 'un and around Christmastime they had this Christmas mix (I guess from corporate, I dunno) but it had about six versions of Silver Bells, so it played what felt like every other song.

I swear I still twitch every time I hear it while out shopping during the holiday season.

I don’t know what the song was actually called since it seemed like a newish Christmassy pop song and normally I’d rather rip out my eyeballs and stuff them in my ears than listen to most of them, but I was in a store earlier, left because the music they were playing was so awful, went into a different store, and was confronted with the same fucking song. This is why online shopping beat the shit out of brick and mortar stores, guys. (Okay and a bunch of other reasons but honestly I almost gave up on my errands it was so awful. So glad my job doesn’t play music.)

Winter Wonderland annoys me, but I think that's because it's so overused in Christmas advertising.

Away in the Manger

There are two versions and I like the one but the other is the more popular and I can't stand it.

The goddamn "Sleigh bells jingling" song. I volunteered at a store one year that was tuned to a radio station that apparently didn't want to play any religious Christmas songs OR songs about Santa. Which left them with every variation of "Jingle Bells", "Let it Snow", "Winter Wonderland", and the sleigh bells song on loop. I don't know why I grew to hate the sleigh bells song so much while I'm still ok with the other three, but that one still makes me flinch whenever it comes on in a store.

The Christmas song. Dull and I don't relate to it at all. Nothing about that song is my experience of Christmas. Also Baby It's Cold Outside. Ugh.

McCartney's "Wonderful Christmastime." Like many of his songs it's effectively simple, but the simplicity of it is so damn grating when it's half heard over store sound systems again and again.

Jingle Bell Rock

I never liked it, after Mean Girls, circa 200- whatever year it was, I grew to dislike it intensely. Terribly so.

The irony is my most hated song is not actually a Xmas song, but when it gets played at Xmas, I feel like people don't understand why people don't notice that the song is advocating to destroy all religion and culture, and by implication, Christmas.

Said song is "Imagine" by John Lennon.
