i mean, go on whatever sites you want (or don't), but complaints like this about tumblr specifically come across as really weird to me, since it's essentially the perfect site to create a total echochamber where you see absolutely nothing but what you want, only from people who agree with you on things 100% (blocking whenever they don't). your dash only includes people you follow, and that blacklist add-on is pretty thorough, so...

The only way I could turn my dash into a "total echochamber" where I never saw any posts that bothered me ever would be by following a grand total of zero people.

i mean, unless you're only into abnormally awful (or incredibly small) fandoms, it kind of seems like you just don't know how to find the right people to follow, honestly?

Not sure about the OP but sometimes stuff comes up on my dash because someone is having an argument about it, and I agree with the actual person I'm following but I really don't want to watch the argument happen.

Even if someone who's reasonable is only reposting something vile to rebut it, it still means the vile thing is popping up on my dash, possibly frequently if it's a big argument.

Exactly!

DA

I find I can "do tumblr" if I only following those kind of blogs that ONLY post gifsets and art of some specific fandom. But any time I try and follow *people*... nope. Not unless J make liberal use of Tumblr Savior, and I'd you're blocking 75% of what a person posts, what's the point?

Tumblr savior seemed to be chronically broken when I was trying to use it over a year ago, and since the tumblr's api is also unsupported and broken, you can't really develop the same kinds of filter tools that you can for twitter.

there's a thing called new x-kit that works wonders

Or avoid tagging your posts on any subject where people actively search tags looking for targets.

So... pretty much every subject? Lol.

This is pretty much how I feel (and how my Tumblr is).

Tumblr has this great thing going on where even though I might have someone blocked, it still recommends posts to me by them. But go off, I guess.
