Every time I see this man, I'm reminded of a comment I read year and years ago on a forum I'm sure is probably dead when Prince Caspian came out - "I've seen rice more spanish than him."

(Anonymous) 2017-12-07 11:00 am (UTC)(link)
What's that even supposed to mean?

TBH I haven't a clue.

(Anonymous) 2017-12-07 01:56 pm (UTC)(link)
The person may have meant that that for someone supposed to be Spanish (Caspian and his people were intended to be a pseudo-Spanish people, No? at least that's how I felt they were portrayed), he didn't look seem terribly Spanish. I don't know much about Spanish cuisine, but a staple of Latin American cuisine is rice & beans, so to the person he was a poor representation... which is kind of funny because there are Spanish people darker than him, yes, but there are those who are far more pale, blue eyed and blonde...they also might have been conflating Spanish with Latin American. People do this often.

I suspected it might have been something like that re: "too pale to be Spanish" stated by someone with no clue about what Spanish people can look like.

Yep, I think they were conflating it with Latin America. Spain is majority white.*

They certainly haven't been to Galicia, because it's full of people who you might well guess were Scots or Irish, for the good reason that there is a very substantial ethnic overlap. Case in point: Martin Sheen. And even further south, the average skin tone is not all that dark.

I am a Scot. I have dark hair, dark eyes - pasty skin. I have a Galician friend who has not infrequently been mistaken for my sister.

* And yes, sure, race is ideologically constructed and all that, but this is not a 'deciding to class the Japanese as white because it's economically convenient' situation.

I don't know who he is, but he's definitely creepy!

You know, I haven't actually seen him in much since Prince Caspian. He was hot in that.

(Anonymous) 2017-12-07 12:12 am (UTC)(link)
He's a Betazoid?

(Anonymous) 2017-12-07 12:13 am (UTC)(link)
I think he's very good looking...but yeah, those eyes give him a really menacing air.

My dad's eyes are like his, so to me this is completely normal, lol.

OP, I regret to inform you that I am also a black-eyed pea person.

Under a very strong direct light mine look slightly red rather than completely black. I'm actually a lot creepier looking than this guy, IMO. He has a skin tone and probably can't turn his head backwards like an owl.

(Anonymous) 2017-12-07 12:40 am (UTC)(link)
Aw, I think he's hot. Lol I liked him in Dorian Gray. My eyes are really dark, but I'm also pretty tan. Maybe it's the dark eyes/light skin combo that creeps you out?

(Anonymous) 2017-12-07 12:41 am (UTC)(link)
Whereas I have a massive thing for people with unexpected eye colors. So thank you for bringing him to my attention! *goes to drool*

(Anonymous) 2017-12-07 12:44 am (UTC)(link)
I have black eyes. In some lighting it can bring out their dark-brownness, but it's actually just that black.

Maybe it's cause he's white you find it weird.

(Anonymous) 2017-12-07 12:47 am (UTC)(link)
Mine are like that. They're just dark brown, but look black in photos.

(Anonymous) 2017-12-07 02:45 am (UTC)(link)
YOOOOO

This is my favorite secret of all time lol

I love him & his dark eyes. I always tell myself they're the dark pools that reach out to your soul and down you in them. But it's only to keep from thinking like you, OP.

Also, I'm just happy to see him in a secret <3

(Anonymous) 2017-12-07 03:09 am (UTC)(link)
Hm. Handy hint, OP - stay well away from China, Japan and Korea.

(Anonymous) 2017-12-07 05:21 am (UTC)(link)
Wow, he's so striking. I kind of love it.

(Anonymous) 2017-12-07 07:51 am (UTC)(link)
Aww! No! OP, he's adorable! I love his eyes! <3

I like his face a lot. I really like his face a lot. I was so happy to see him in The Punisher. *sighs dreamily*

I like his eyes, but I can see how that could be hella creepy.
