I don't know about the Netflix side of things. I think unfortunately Spacey being a piece of shit did fire up a lot of homophobes who hadn't said shit about any other accusations until a gay man was involved, so even if its off base I can't blame OP for being uncomfortable about that. Of course not all of the response was that, but I certainly saw it, so maybe OP did to and is now looking for it everywhere. It happens.

Though also I think Spacey's absolute shitshow response didn't help anything.

I do think that to some extent Weinstein and Spacey being "acceptable targets" to parts of American society who might otherwise not have cared or paid attention to the stories did play a role in the current atmosphere taking off the way it did.

At the same time, that's a million miles away from being an actual defense of Weinstein or Spacey.
