Sherlock/Molly. It just feels like an extremely Mary Sue type of a ship, to me, with Molly as the Mary Sue for people to use to fantasize about Sherlock falling in love with them. Which is, objectively, fine. But it's basically everything I personally loath.

One of my best friends absolutely loathes Sherlock/Molly. I, on the other hand, love it. Lol

So...is it a Mary Sue type thing, where you identify with Molly and are attracted to Sherlock? I'm not asking so that I can be a jerk about it - I've just been in the Sherlock fandom for a long time, and it's something I've always wondered.

It's nice that you and your friend can overcome your strong shipping differences. :)

A little bit? I do identify with Molly and I quite like her, but I'm not attracted to Sherlock (John's more my type). I just want Molly to be happy and it would make her happy to have Sherlock like her back, hence my love for the ship. :)

I feel like Molly just wouldn't be that happy with Sherlock if she actually got him - she seems more attracted to the *idea* of him and he would't magically become the perfect boyfriend if they got together - and that Sherlock just isn't that into Molly, however much he might have grown as a person and come to respect her and value her as a friend. It just feels too one-sided on Molly's part to me and that it would end in disappointment for her, so I can't really get behind a romance between them.
