How messy is too messy for you?

Considering living situations.

Way messier than should be considered healthy, tbh. I’m a goddamned slob. And I’m married to one too. It gets bad lmao.

Fortunately we both have occasional bursts of anxiety that make us go into cleaning overdrive, so it never gets to like dangerous levels.

I will agree with this. I'm quite a slob too, plus Mum (who I live with) has her fair share of aging joints that get in the way of some activities.

I like my area to be fairly clean and neat. I clean at least once a week and hate clutter.

I have a pretty high tolerance. As long as there's nothing that attracts pests and I can move around, I'm good.

I can't stand it even a little. It also tends to be a sign that my depression is coming back.

I used to be absolutely terrible. I probably shouldn't admit this but I've gotten in trouble twice when I lived in apartments for the way I kept them.

I'm much better now and I keep the apartment I live in neat and clean. It's not always perfect but it's never to the point where I feel like I wouldn't want the manager to see it. I'm kind of proud of myself for managing it to be honest.

Clutter is fine as long as I can move around and use everything.

No food garbage.

I'm okay with clutter, but I can't stand dust, I've very low tolerance when things are dirty.

I live with a slob, but she's wise enough to keep her mess to her room and not our common areas. In that sense, it doesn't bother me. My own housekeeping is pretty...idk below average I guess, I like to keep things sanitary and organized but I don't mind clutter and fuck if I'm gonna dust more than once every six months.

but there was one time I lived (briefly) with someone who was the messiest ever and holy shit I just about murdered her for it. I can't abide by food messes (like a pot allowed to sit for 2 months and get moldy) and a general inability to place trash in the trash bin. that was just the tip of the iceberg. like, I don't give a fuck if we don't clean the toilets weekly, but holy fucking shit put your trash where it goes and when the bin is topped off, TAKE IT OUT TO THE DUMPSTER don't just keep piling it up in a neverending game of chicken. fuck that bitch I'm glad I'm quit of her.

The bin thing is a big one for me. It's amazing how many creative ways people will find to get hide/dispose of stuff so they can pretend they don't know the bin is overflowing. I always find when I finally take it out one of my housemates will appear and go "oh I was JUST ABOUT to do that myself, you beat me to it!" Dude, I just saw you very carefully add more to the pyramid of rubbish like you're playing fucking Jenga, you're not fooling anyone.

I can't deal with major hoarding because I get a bit claustrophobic. I can live in small spaces but whenever I've had to move and have boxes everywhere I don't feel right so it kind of taught me that I could never live with someone with a hoarding problem.

I am not too judgmental about mess since I am not the best at housekeeping, but anything that smells or attracts bugs needs to go.

For me personally, I'm not sure. I'm a complete slob and I honestly don't care. I'm caring right now for the sake of my cat. I don't want her to end up eating something off the floor she shouldn't or getting hurt. She's my motivation for cleaning.

I can handle things like dishes piling up in the sink (to an extent), some stuff going bad in the back of the fridge, and a floor that visible needs to be cleaned (as long as it doesn't stay that way for more than a couple of weeks), but i cannot stand things like garbage or recycling piling up next to the garbage/recycling receptacle - if the sack is full, take it out, if you have an odd-sized item that won't fit, take it out right away - or garbage/recycling being tossed onto the back porch to be dealt with "later," or a really gross bathroom, or dirty dishes under the sofa or under a bed, or laundry that piles up on the floor for more than a week (use the hamper), or a bed that doesn't get changed weekly, or anything pet-related that isn't being cleaned often enough (litter box, pet hair everywhere, aquarium filter, bedding whatever).

I'm pretty neat and clean on my own. When I've had my own place I'm that asshole who keeps a bottle of vinegar and scrubby thing handy to clean the shower real quick every day. (I'd rather clean once a day for thirty seconds than once a week for thirty minutes)

I think I'm kind of opposite of most people though. Clutter and too much stuff bothers me way more than actual dirt and filth. idk maybe it's just living/growing up with a bunch of bachelor guys but I really don't give a fuck if I go over to someone's house and there's dishes piled up or the bathroom is destroyed or they haven't washed their sheets in a year and their jizz sock is visible on floor. But too much STUFF that freaks me out. Like people who have hundres of clothes just fucking everywhere, wtf man get rid of your old shit or do laundry more often. No one needs thirty shirts.

I houseshare with three guys (including my partner), the place is a mess half the time even though I do the majority of the housework but I like to think I'm fairly tolerant. I'm also shit at confrontation/arguments so even if I find and clean up something horrific I'll pretty much just grumble to myself privately. I don't want to become the 'nagging girl' of the household, though I will be soon if one of them doesn't figure out how to use a fucking toilet brush. :
