If my hair looks good, I'll take a compliment from any color. Just don't get weird and over-the-top about it? Casual compliments are good.

(Anonymous) 2017-12-12 01:26 am (UTC)(link)Whiter than snow here, but I feel like it might depend on how it's worded to? Like, if they're just like, "Wow your hair looks amazing/beautiful." or "I love the colour!" and it's about your hair looking nice and not about you being a POC?
Rather than, "Wow, your hair is so ETHNIC and BEAUTIFUL (BECAUSE IT'S ETHNIC)!"

(Anonymous) 2017-12-12 01:49 am (UTC)(link)"Wow, may I ask how long it took to get your hair done like that?" (Hair was similar to the above, but smaller twists & the twists had a golden tone running through them.)
"4(?) hours."
"That's a long time, but your hair looks really amazing! I've seen jewelry made of like these twisted coils of gold, and that's what you're hair looks like!"
"Thank you."
I ask because I had a boss tell me I wasn't allowed to compliment people on their hair, esp. Black women because it could come across as a microaggression. If that's true, I want to know, and I'll stop, but she was also white...
