Cap's supposed to be a master tactician, js

Too bad he's written to have not even the barest grasp of tactics.

I would disagree. Would you mind pointing to scenes that you think show this claim of yours?

"I'm wanted by every law enforcement agency in the planet. The bad guy has a head start. So I'm going to call up my best buds, have them waste hours flying to Germany, and march across an airfield in costume and in PLAIN SIGHT because I need a special jet to catch up to the guy I gave a full day of a head start to."

How about all of Age of Ultron? Granted, the only character who gets a decent showing in that one is Hawkeye, but still. Not so much with the genius tactics in that one.

Can you provide some credentials for your tactical expertsie

He's the only character in the MCU I can even remember ever doing something to gain tactical advantage in a fight: when he donned his WW2-era uniform to fight brainwashed Bucky in Winter Soldier.

Unfortunately, MCU Cap’s tactical genius is highly variable depending on what movie you’re watching. For example, if it’s anything with Whedon’s fingerprints on it then Cap’s tactics boil down to “hit it until it stays down, and if that don’t work throw the Hulk at it.” It’s an effective strategy, but not exactly multi-dimensional chess. In fact, I’d blame most of the ‘dumb Cap’ on Joss, who apparently only knows how to write “scrappy blond with super-strength” one way. Joss-Cap shares a lot of similarities to “On line for what?”-era Buffy.
