You have the worst neighbors. I'm baffled someone would have the audacity to fill your trash can with their own garbage. Maybe it's the same people that have been stealing them.

At least one of them dislikes me because I keep chickens and my yard, especially the front, looks like an apocalyptic war zone. I used to get complemented on the yard all the time. Then we had five years of drought, water prices quadrupled, and everyone was only allowed to water twice a week for five minutes a day. Lots of people ignored that. I couldn’t and still pay the water bill. Couple that with my job, school, my mom (RIP) getting really sick and my being her primary caretaker, and people stealing fruit, flowers, and once an entire plum tree, and I let most all of it die. I’ve cleared the worst of the weeds and debris from half the back yard, I want to do the front, too, but someone keeps stealing my trash cans.

I want to get back into gardening, but this past winter and spring’s drought-breaking torrential rain has been followed by this winter’s record low humidity and high temps, so the whole south of the state has been on fire, after autumn had the north of the state on fire. Also there’s so much expensive repair work to do on my mom’s house that growing food and flowers feels like a luxury.
