On the one hand I don't like everything being owned by one fucking company.

But on the fannish side of things, X-MEN 'VERSE AND AVENGER 'VERSE? COMBINED? NOW A POSSIBILITY AND I AM SO PUMPED. SO PUMPED FOR THAT.

Sucks giant flaming donkey balls and I tired of fandom types celebrating it because it means more crossovers. We’d have a whole lot more if things became public domain as originally intended.

Corporate consolidation is fundamentally bad. It's harmful to the public good. It shouldn't be allowed. We need strong regulations and watchdogs to prevent things like this from happening, for the good of consumers and the economy.

Maybe if nixon didn't have extreme problems in 1970s, corporate consolidation could be solved back then. President can fired the fbi in his pleasure. How great the interaction between wh and fbi when internet not even happened at that time.....?

It's mostly a post-Nixon problem as Reagan and subsequent presidents have rolled back regulations.

In one way, it's bad for the development of the Marvel properties for them to be under one roof.

In another way, it's just bad to have this much corporate consolidation. The Fox deal wasn't even the only deal Comcast was working on in the last two months.

I'm hoping for theatrical Star Wars OT blu rays/DVDs. As long as Fox had the media distribution rights to the original trilogy, no way that was going to happen.

I would have to care more about the MCU and a LOT more about X-men to be at all excited about potential crossovers.

I read or heard someone saying how the Star Wars theme just doesn't sound right without having to Fox fanfare play before it so YAY! Okay, 1) that is the stupidest reason ever. Yeah, I grew up watching SW movies on VHS over and over, too, and was used to the Fox fanfare, but that's still a completely ridiculous reason to support this, and 2) why would Disney put the fanfare back into Star Wars movies just because they bought Fox? They own Lucasfilm and are making Star Wars movies in their own right. Fox isn't involved with Star Wars anymore. Disney isn't going to brand their movies with Fox.

Meanwhile, I've heard that movies like Deadpool and Logan aren't likely to come out of the Disney umbrella.

I care, and I'm not thrilled about it. Especially with net neutrality being in danger and Disney having a long history of overpricing their services/products (do you know you have PAY to watch Disney on Demand?? Are you kidding me?). And cartoons/movies aside, I don't actually care a whole lot for Disney. I watch like maybe three or four shows on ABC and I haven't actively watched Disney itself since Wizards of Waverly Place ended. On top of that, I don't care for MCU and care incredibly less for it contaminating my beloved X-Men. I don't mean any of thjs in a mean way, btw, I just... Worry about this screwing with the stuff I actually like, you know? =/
