could we just cancel christmas or something?

I'm just fed up with everything. I need a freaking vacation but I can't stand all that holiday stuff. Does anyone else get this feeling?

We sort of canceled it in my household!

Yes, I wish I could just sleep until December 26th.

Say to hell with it and spend Christmas however you want to spend it. Stay at home if you want, eat whatever you want, bingewatch something fun, ignore your relatives... call it a mental health day Christmas!

I want to strike a deal with my parents where I don't have to buy them more than token gifts, because they are pushing 70, have accumulated lots of stuff, don't need more stuff, and can afford to buy what they need. They don't demand gifts from me or anything, but it's awkward to say "Can I just not buy you stuff? Thanks." I think I'm going for an Open Table gift certificate again, which I will gladly keep doing, but it will start to get predictable.

I like Christmas a lot (we celebrate it totally secular, but I love the songs, the atmosphere, everything). My family also decided a few years ago to not swap presents. It started when all of my many siblings were in college and just didn't have money. Now most of us are out of college but still young and still don't really have lots of money to spare. And anyway, presents are so awkward, these days the only things I want are too expensive to be a present (new computer! PS4! my bills paid!) so it's either get a lot of awkward junk you don't want... or spend the holidays stress free, baking cookies, doing fun family stuff, all without worrying about gifts.

I usually feel this way but I'm actually in a very Christmasy mood this year.

Most of my family is going to be traveling this year, including everyone who really deeply cares about Christmas. So I'm not sure if I'm doing anything. Might hang out with my cousin, I honestly don't know. It's very weird - not in a bad way, though.

I ceased observing christmas about ten years ago. in most areas of life this has been a wonderful choice and easy to manage, but the commercials, the atmosphere in every store, and my parents are the parts that still make it a completely unbearable time of year.

All the time. I'd rather skip the holiday season this year altogether. I'm so far booked in for three separate celebrations though I'm not sure which, if any, I have the energy for
