I actually hated seeing Hux as comic relief. He should be a terrifying and formidable villain with whom the heroes have to contend. Seeing Poe as Tony Stark felt very out of place in a Star Wars film and most of the humour in general just felt very MCU. And Kylo Ren's already shaky credibility as a super villain was greatly undermined by his childish spats with Hux.

Kylo's childish spats with Hux are at least in-keeping with what he was like from the first movie, the guy has temper tantrums like a toddler tbh. Albeit more violent and murderous ones.

But hey if the rest of it didn't work for you that's cool. I was fine with it but ymmv and all that.

I hate this because I hate second hand embarrassment and cringe humour and especially if it's done to characters I find interesting.
And yes, the humour was very "let's copy the annoying MCU trend of 'Every remark has to be a snappy one-liner'".

Kylo was having childish spats with Hux in TFA though? I'd argue that his credibility can't be undermined by his doing the same thing he's always done. He's a whiny-ass man-baby. It's ironic that he's so obsessed with Darth Vader when he's really just out-Anakining Anakin. I'm sure he has very important opinions on sand.

They took up a lot more screentime in this movie IMO. I actually wondered as I was watching it in the theater whether they'd added in more bickering because they realized fans had liked their pettiness in the first movie.

Kylo in TFA was literally a laughable villain but it wasn't completely unforgivable since it was the first in a trilogy and we had Snoke. Kylo's tantrum when Snoke tells him to lose the mask would have been the only call back to TFA if not for the playground spats with Hux. TLJ needed to establish Kylo as the big bad and it failed.
