I went to see it today, it was fun.

Could have done with a better plot for Finn because that whole casino bit was completely pointless, like I think it helped to make the movie feel like 20 mins longer than it needed to be.

Rose was cute af and I want to see where she ends up by the end of it all. Major feelings for her over her sister though, that was sad. :(

Finn vs Phasma was awesome but a little shoe-horned, I mean tbh that's the fight that should have happened last movie, but whatever it was really cool and I'll take Finn kicking-ass in general so whatever really.

The Rey and Kylo fight was cool, remains to be seen what will happen with the force-bind thing next movie though.

I'm not sure if I was supposed to be laughing at red-haired guy for most of the movie but I was, his failed attempts at getting anything done tickled me.

That fucking hyperspeed ship-ramming, like holy fuck that was a spectacular piece of cinema.

I liked Poe more this time around, but he had like actual shit to do and stuff so we got to see his character more.

Luke+Leia reunion was sweet.

Finn+Rey reunion was also sweet af.

The porgs are fucking adorable and I want one.

I'm not invested enough ship-wise to be super die-hard about any of them so my Finn/Rey and Finn/Poe heart was made happy by many scenes, and the potential of Finn/Rose is cute if they decide to go there. So I'm good.

The red-haired guy (Hux, I think?) is really the punching bag of the film. lol Opening scene, he gets trolled, and he's constantly put down and bullied by Snoke and Kylo as well. He's got a rough time of it. I liked the scene where he was just about to kill an unconscious Kylo. I mean, he should've done it, shit is not working out for him with Kylo holding the reigns. Honestly, Kylo isn't mentally stable enough to be the leader and the entire First Order knows it. If this were a realistic organization, I'm sure there'd be massive concerns that all that matters to be Emperor is the ability to force-choke your way to the top. Not that red-haired dude is a particularly charismatic leader either.

Everyone was sassing him and generally giving him a hard time and it was fantastic.

Oh for sure, like dude take the shot, you know Kylo isn't able to lead this army properly, your entire group knows this. Just end it here and lead without pesky Jedi because they always complicate shit. But at the same time Kylo undermining the guy was funny so, I'll take it.

I think Hux is .... not underrated, but I enjoy him on the screen, I even liked him in TFA.

I can barely remember him being in the first movie honestly, but I don't find him to be a terrible character or anything he's just not one I care for that much outside of finding it funny that he couldn't get shit done at all.

I actually hated seeing Hux as comic relief. He should be a terrifying and formidable villain with whom the heroes have to contend. Seeing Poe as Tony Stark felt very out of place in a Star Wars film and most of the humour in general just felt very MCU. And Kylo Ren's already shaky credibility as a super villain was greatly undermined by his childish spats with Hux.

Kylo's childish spats with Hux are at least in-keeping with what he was like from the first movie, the guy has temper tantrums like a toddler tbh. Albeit more violent and murderous ones.

But hey if the rest of it didn't work for you that's cool. I was fine with it but ymmv and all that.

I hate this because I hate second hand embarrassment and cringe humour and especially if it's done to characters I find interesting.
And yes, the humour was very "let's copy the annoying MCU trend of 'Every remark has to be a snappy one-liner'".

Kylo was having childish spats with Hux in TFA though? I'd argue that his credibility can't be undermined by his doing the same thing he's always done. He's a whiny-ass man-baby. It's ironic that he's so obsessed with Darth Vader when he's really just out-Anakining Anakin. I'm sure he has very important opinions on sand.

They took up a lot more screentime in this movie IMO. I actually wondered as I was watching it in the theater whether they'd added in more bickering because they realized fans had liked their pettiness in the first movie.

Kylo in TFA was literally a laughable villain but it wasn't completely unforgivable since it was the first in a trilogy and we had Snoke. Kylo's tantrum when Snoke tells him to lose the mask would have been the only call back to TFA if not for the playground spats with Hux. TLJ needed to establish Kylo as the big bad and it failed.
