For me, at least, it has to do with how they treat the subject? Like, if someone is into something really sketchy but acknowledges the skeeviness of it, then full speed ahead, have fun anddo what you want. I only get bothered when they try to justify skeevy stuff and ignore the inherent skeeviness of it, like if they write essays about how (insert abusive relationship here) is romantic and flawless twu wuv.

Ship what you want but own up to it, basically.
