I need people to talk about Psych with. So I've been trying to convert my friend into watching Psych (mostly by telling her it was kind of grown-up Drake & Josh), but it might be easier if I were to friend someone who was already interested in Psych, y/y?

[identity profile] spacemonkeyluvn.livejournal.com 2008-07-03 05:31 am (UTC)(link)
First of all, I think I love you just for comparing Psych to Drake & Josh. That may have made my day ^_^

Friends? Y.

[identity profile] entwashian.livejournal.com 2008-07-03 05:47 am (UTC)(link)
For reals, it's the same dynamic: slacker dude pulls his book-smart buddy into all his wacky schemes.

[identity profile] spacemonkeyluvn.livejournal.com 2008-07-03 05:53 am (UTC)(link)
Don't forget - they're also BFFs ;D

Two shows that just make me so happy. I can get my angst and drama elsewhere. When I just want to smile/laugh, these are the shows to watch <3

[identity profile] entwashian.livejournal.com 2008-07-03 06:04 am (UTC)(link)
:D That was a given!

I saw the original ads for Psych when USA was trying to promote it and thought, 'that show looks dumb!' but I saw an episode by accident over the hiatus last summer, and it has been my happy place ever since.

[identity profile] spacemonkeyluvn.livejournal.com 2008-07-03 06:12 am (UTC)(link)
Of course! Silly me ^_^

I watched it when it first came out and liked it, but didn't think too much of it. Then I bought the first season on DVD because it was cheap at Target. Didn't really watch it or think much of it. Then, I felt like watching an episode which led to watching it every day (at least for a couple weeks). I am now eagerly awaiting the third season. This month!

Now I just wish they'd release Drake & Josh on DVD (other than the first 4 or so episodes and the Go Hollywood movie). Which, btw, did you hear that they're going to be making another D&J movie? http://www.variety.com/article/VR1117987345.html?categoryid=14&cs=1

[identity profile] entwashian.livejournal.com 2008-07-03 06:21 am (UTC)(link)
That's right, it's July already! So much going on!

I've actually only seen about a dozen episodes of Drake & Josh. (Among other things, Megan is frighteningly realistic to me... especially when I'm trying to watch the show, and my own little sister walks through the room and says, "Are you really watching this?")

Horray for Danny J and Ianto! And you really cannot go wrong with archaeology. :P

[identity profile] spacemonkeyluvn.livejournal.com 2008-07-03 05:51 am (UTC)(link)
I could watch Jack and Daniel have conversations with just their names all day... One of my favorite scenes is from 'The Fifth Race' when Jack starts speaking ancient, Daniel tells him he did but Jack won't believe him and they go back and forth with "Yes you did." "No I didn't." And General Hammond just keeps looking back and forth like he's watching a tennis match ^_^

And as for Ianto and archaeology. Well, they are just plain made out of awesomeness and love <3

[identity profile] archae-ology.livejournal.com 2008-07-03 06:10 am (UTC)(link)
Those two are just amazing. I adore them and their banter and seriously, it never gets old. That one scene is just fantastic, but I think one of my all time favourites with them is from "Need", and it's when Daniel has totally broken down and he's pointing a gun at Jack and Jack just talks him down and that just gets to me every single time.

*grins* They really are! And seriously, studying archaeology is probably one of the best things I've ever done. Especially since I get to focus on Egyptology. :D

[identity profile] spacemonkeyluvn.livejournal.com 2008-07-03 06:16 am (UTC)(link)
That is definitely a classic Jack&Daniel scene. Breaks my heart watching it, but you can feel the love <3

Where did you study archaeology? I just graduated from UCSC with a degree in Anthropology and a concentration in Archaeology. I've always been fascinated with Egypt though. I've wanted to become an Egyptologist ever since I was a kid.

[identity profile] archae-ology.livejournal.com 2008-07-03 06:31 am (UTC)(link)
It's so sweet, and RDA and MS work so amazingly well together.

I'm currently working toward my degree at U of T up here in Ontario and what I'm working on is a double major in Near and Middle Eastern Civilizations and English. Random combo, but I love it. :D Egypt was something I just adored starting at a very young age and I decided when I was about nine that I wanted to be an Egyptologist, lol. Irony is that my initial interest starting when I was all of four was paleontology. So not much of a change for me! :P

[identity profile] spacemonkeyluvn.livejournal.com 2008-07-03 06:40 am (UTC)(link)
I love how they can communicate so well with so few words. Especially given that Daniel is a linguist. There are other people who say the same words at the same time or finish each other's sentences, but I've always wondered about that part when Jack and Daniel say "That's... ambitious" at the same time (about Sam blowing up the star). It just seems like such a specific and unusual thing to say. I don't know. Sometimes I really do think they had a telepathic connection or something :D

I'm going to be visiting Canada in about 2 weeks. It'll be Vancouver and Victoria mostly because we live in California and we're only going for a week. But still. I've always wanted to go. Doesn't hurt that most of my childhood crushes were Canadian (*cough* Ryan Gosling *cough*).

I may have also wanted to be a paleontologist before I wanted to be an archaeologist. In fact, before that, I was really into gem stones and rocks in general. Other kids could play doctor and teacher. I was busy digging in the dirt ^_^

[identity profile] archae-ology.livejournal.com 2008-07-03 06:55 am (UTC)(link)
Jack and Daniel just get each other, and for two people to come from such different backgrounds and such different thought processes that's really wonderful. I love how they don't even bat an eyelash when the other comes out with something completely obscure, they just keep rolling with the punches without missing a beat. One example of that, that I can think of is from "The Shroud". On screen, they've been apart for ages, but they pick right up where they left off and it felt almost as if it was back in season one or two again and watching that was just fantastic. And okay, seriously, your icon is fantastic, I still can't stop giggling!

Canada is lovely, and I envy you so much for getting out to BC. I've wanted to go there for years, but I'm stuck out here at the other end of the country. Amusingly enough, I've been to Europe, and yet I've been to one other province in my entire life. (Manitoba, and if you don't visit it, you're not missing anything). Oh Ryan Gosling, I remember him back on Breaker High. I will admit that I had a slight crush on Paul Gross when I was younger, among others. *grins*

I just fell in love with dinosaurs the first day they were introduced to us in SK. I was in French immersion and it was lovely, although it's rather amusing when I mess up languages now. I was talking with my girlfriend on the phone tonight and I just had to stop because I was about to start rambling in French but I managed to catch myself before I did. But playing in the dirt is so much more fun than sitting around at a tiny little desk when you're that age, and then there are those of us where that continues to be true! *raises hand sheepishly* I lieks teh sand.

Finally, someone who has *some* in common wiht me! :D

[identity profile] longlongwaytogo.livejournal.com 2008-07-03 05:53 am (UTC)(link)
You'll find me on page 11, but, Red Dwarf, Doctor Who the dresden files. the simpsons. family guy. futurama. torchwood. the mighty boosh, Jeeves and Wooster, Hot Fuzz and Spaced. :)

[identity profile] spacemonkeyluvn.livejournal.com 2008-07-03 05:58 am (UTC)(link)
Ah! Good taste, then ^_^

I keep forgetting to add 'The IT Crowd' to my list. I should probably also add 'Garth Marenghi's Darkplace.'

[identity profile] longlongwaytogo.livejournal.com 2008-07-03 06:10 am (UTC)(link)
I should probably have had that and snuffbox on my list... though I'm not sure I'd ever write for snuffbox fandom.

[identity profile] spacemonkeyluvn.livejournal.com 2008-07-03 08:27 pm (UTC)(link)
Yeah, my activity in fandoms varies. I still list them though because I figure if I'm enough of a fan and other people share the same interests, I'd love to even just talk about it with someone.

[identity profile] consequential0.livejournal.com 2008-07-02 06:13 am (UTC)(link)
Um um um the power of Simon Pegg is compelling me. Also we seem to have quite a few fandoms in common (and SCIENCE!), and I do like candy. Wanna be friends?

[identity profile] spacemonkeyluvn.livejournal.com 2008-07-03 05:38 am (UTC)(link)
The power of Simon Pegg is strong. As is SCIENCE! And candy. Can't forget about candy.

Friends? Friends. *nods*

[identity profile] xenafox.livejournal.com 2008-07-02 07:02 am (UTC)(link)
starsky & hutch

YES! XD Omg. ..Although I've only seen the newer movie. *Hearts that couple so much*

[identity profile] spacemonkeyluvn.livejournal.com 2008-07-03 06:06 am (UTC)(link)
I'm more into the original pair myself. Nothing quite like a 70s cop show ;)

But yes, that pairing is so much love <3 <3
