Hi there! I just took a quick look at your LJ, since we share a number of fandoms (Torchwood, DW, Bones, Pushing Daisies, and yes "British actors" TOTALLY counts as a fandom), just to see if we would "get along" so to speak. I find friending memes very much like going on blind dates: not quite sure if you're going to land someone who would share similar sensibilities.

Anyway, read your thoughts on DW S4E12 and they're pretty cool! Absolutely loved reading your thoughts on Wanted. (I love Timur Bekmamketov with the strength of a thousand burning suns.) So, I thought I'd friend you so you can take a look and see if you'd like to be friends.

You described it exactly! I'm always reluctant to do the friending meme thing for that same reason, even if there are shared interests, but what's the harm in trying, right? But with shared love over such quirky, geeky things, it's hard not to get on some, right? And oh, Lord, Wanted. It left me a wibbly mess of incoherency. I would LOVE to see more movies by Timur (after I learned how to spell his name) because that's a man who not only gets the visual aspect of movies but the story, too. I'm adding you right now! And hey, are you... Filipino?

Exactly! There's just a hope that the shared love over quirky, geeky things ends up being the same type of love... or at least similar. (In Who fandom, I am pretty much a big multishipper, so although I'm cool with people preferring one ship over another so long as they don't enter ship war territory because most likely I like both the ship they like and the ship they don't. Hee hee!)

Timur Bekmambetov has made three other films that are fairly easy to get in the US. The two easiest ones are Night Watch and Day Watch. The former is a MUST SEE for anyone who liked Wanted, because they share the same visual aesthetic... and Day Watch is just a continuation of that storyline.

And yes, I am a Filipina (born there, but naturalized when I was a teen).

Now we can fumble around and not be sure how close to get and whether or not we should offer to pay for dinner to split it. It's going to be a bit awkward, but I'm sure we'll get through it! Or... occasionally run into each other in posts and avoid eye contact. Either way, win-win, don't you think? And I totally agree. Multiple ships rule. All that variety! And hey, that means others get to have fun, trying to win you towards their ship with goodies and talk! (Tosh/Ten. It would totally work! ...sort of.)

Oh! I saw the books on which those are based in the bookstore and was really interested. Alas, I love books but don't have the attention span for them. I will definitely have to find those.

Dude. Dude. I am, too! I was born and raised in America, but you know, pinoy pride and all that good stuff.
