Yeah, she probably does need to step back a little for her own sake. It's so easy to look at the world and get overwhelmed by all the bad things going on in it that you lose yourself and see enemies where there are none.

Didn't see the Alyssa Milano thing but I found her little exchange with Meryl Streep interesting (I rather liked Meryl's response).

Enthusiastic Polanski supporter Meryl Streep has no leg to stand on.

But the media should do more to hound male Hollywood stars that are as complicit (if not more so) than Streep.

She needs therapy and twitter (both the misogynistic victim blaming parts and the egging her on parts) aren't helping.

Also she really really needs to address having worked with Victor Salva. That glass house is not a good look.

I do hope she gets her justice.

I never got the "ONE person needs to calm down or else people will think that the Movement is full of shit!" mindset.

Sad thing is, you're probably not wrong because people make odd logic leaps.

To be fair, when it's the movement's de facto spokesperson and/or one of its most prominent, visible members...

Rose McGowan who took a $100,000 payoff from Weinstein to keep quiet and then said Meryl Streep is at fault for Weinstein continuing to assault young women by keeping quiet about it? The same Rose McGowan who said, "I still don’t really understand the whole story or history there, and I’d rather not, because it’s not really my business. But he’s an incredibly sweet and gentle man," about a convicted child molester who made and distributed child pornography? She's been bad for the cause for decades.

Taking (paltry in comparison to the crime) monetary retribution from the rapist that hired ex-Mossad agents to gaslight you is not a bad thing. Victims are allowed monetary retributions since they often don't get anything else in term of justice, no time behind bars for the accused, etc.

(Anonymous) 2017-12-23 12:36 am (UTC)(link)
I understand why she did it. But I also think that it's bullshit that she is accusing someone like Meryl Streep of being responsible for keeping silent when she herself sold her silence. Add in her support for a paedophile and really the cause would be better off if she'd distance herself from it.

It took an unsurprisingly short amount of time for them to start eating their own.

Shut up cishet male. You and every other male deserve to die horrible and painful deaths.

Is that a real tweet from her? Like, that isn't photoshopped, she actually seriously said that?

Wow, that's like one step off from cry-typing.

(Anonymous) 2017-12-23 01:26 am (UTC)(link)
She tweets a lot of stuff like that. I don't know anyone who thinks she's the leader of the Outraged Hollywood Women club but a glance at her twitter makes it clear she thinks she is. She calls herself the leader of the Rose Army and they're taking back...short hairdos? Misogyny? I don't even know. Those are the two main things I saw on her twitter page.

Well, its' heartening that in that second link a lot of the comments are speaking up in support of Alyssa and the wives of these men. It's really fucking shitty and hypocritical to throw these women under the bus. The victims in so many of these cases didn't speak out until recently, but somehow the wives are awful people because they.... didn't speak out? And anyone who expresses any positive feelings for the wives in these cases is an awful person because... fuck women who aren't 100% flawless beings, I guess?

(Anonymous) 2017-12-23 03:09 am (UTC)(link)
Wow, way to make fun of a sexual abuse victims.
As someone who was sexual abused as a kid, I can totally understand why she would have flashbacks and be ""triggered"" because it DOES happens time to time and it really, honestly sucks. If I could get rid of being "triggered"" forever i would. People don't say this shit for attention or whatever. It honestly mentally fucks with you.

I've never reached out to anyone about this because I'm always afraid dickholes like you would laugh and make fun of me. OP you're a fucking asshole.

God, this community is full of insenstive cunts.

(Anonymous) 2017-12-23 03:36 am (UTC)(link)
It's not the fact that she's triggered. It's that every time she's triggered, she's launching an attack on someone, regardless of their guilt. That's not a healthy response to any situation. She needs to talk to a therapist or at least step away and give herself a couple of hours to think someone's words over before deciding they're horrible little rape apologists who are beyond redemption and deserve to be slammed.

(Anonymous) 2017-12-23 04:01 am (UTC)(link)
nayrt, obviously but yep, this. I don't see anyone here blaming or making fun of McGowan for being triggered or having flashbacks. I do see people criticizing her actions. Sexual assault victims deserve our empathy and compassion, but that doesn't mean that their behavior is above criticism and must never be examined.

I really don't see how the OP is making fun of sexual abuse victims. I'm part of that happy club of people who've been raped and sexually abused. I have PTSD. I've been triggered plenty of times by shit on the internet.

Yet despite the fact that I've gotten triggered hundreds of fucking times by shit on the internet, including even by people here on F!S, I've never lashed out and attacked them. I've never said they make me want to vomit or put the blame for my illness or the mismanagement of my symptoms on their shoulders.

The way she's acting in that tweet is tacky af and does so much harm to abuse survivors as a whole. Like I said, that's one step off from cry-typing. It's absolutely unacceptable behavior from any adult, no matter what their damage is. Using your own flashbacks as an accusation to throw against other people is manipulative and abusive. And worse is that she isn't just harming this one woman with her attack. By saying stupid dramatic shit like this (and using her history as justification for her current shit behavior) she's trivializing flashbacks and it reinforces that people like us are just a fucking joke, and just drama queens looking for attention.

(Anonymous) 2017-12-23 04:18 am (UTC)(link)
NAYRT, i agree. When I was still in early stages of recovering from my abuse I did lash out like this, and it was so horrible of me and manipulative. You can't start demanding who people be friends with, and say that their friendships are triggering to you and they're "fake" for being friends with someone (who idk maybe the wife kept quiet to keep herself and her kids safe).

(Anonymous) 2017-12-23 11:51 pm (UTC)(link)
"reins" it in. JFC people.
