I get where you're coming from, but I also think you have to evaluate things like that on their own terms. And I'm not personally familiar with the fandom, so I don't know if there's any validity to the argument. But I'm not comfortable concluding that things like this are, in general, hollow moral justifications with no validity based solely on the fact that they're annoying.
