#2edgy4me

What is with this perception that criticizing religion is edgy?

(Anonymous) 2017-12-27 01:20 am (UTC)(link)
Because that seems to be the motivation of a lot of people who criticize religion, especially on the Internet. If you want to blame someone for the perception, blame all the Ricky Gervais-ass motherfuckers out there.

Do you truly think it's appropriate for OP to be lumped in with people like that, when they say in their secret that they were raised religious and don't voice their concerns specifically because they're worried people will assume they're just trying to be edgy?

I don't think it says something good about someone if they assume that any sentiment that smells faintly secular is meant to be inflammatory.

No, I'm explaining why there's an assumption of edginess in general.

(Anonymous) 2017-12-27 01:38 am (UTC)(link)
My mistake. I assumed you were the OP of the thread who dubbed the secret "#2edgy4me."

(Anonymous) 2017-12-27 04:14 am (UTC)(link)
If all religious people are bigots, why can't all atheists be edgelords?

(Anonymous) 2017-12-27 05:17 am (UTC)(link)
That's not what OP said.

I mean, just for the record.

(Anonymous) 2017-12-27 01:24 am (UTC)(link)
Because it's easy to take pot shots at the majority to make yourself feel better. The expression "Shooting fish in a barrel" comes to mind.
