Eh. That could have been me at 12. I was my adult height and a c cup. I looked older than my friend's sister who was 15/16 at the time, and then my friend caught up to me before her sister did, so it's probably pretty normal even for siblings to have that experience? Idk.

I do think of Jo as less delicate looking than any of those girls, but it's been a long time since I read the book.

I don't mean this in a mean way, but you're an outlier, in that sense. Most 12-year-olds don't look even half this old-- and certainly not in that time period, without all the added food hormones and stuff that are speeding up girls' puberies these days.

Yeah, gotta agree with the previous anon. Your experience isn't typical. Most 12 year olds don't look like 16 year olds, particularly not in the mid to late 1800s. In the book, Amy is, unequivocally, a child and is never described as looking more physically mature than her age.

Yeah, same. I went from a slightly tall eleven-year-old to an adult-sized, adult-shaped 12-year-old which was a bit of a shock.
