Kathryn Newton (Amy) is 20. [first from the left]
Willa Fitzgerald (Meg) got a BA in 2013 so is probably 25-26. [second from the left]
Maya Thurman-Hawke (Jo) is 19 and the daughter of Uma Thurman and Ethan Hawke. [third from the left]
Annes Elwy (Beth) I have no information on. [last from the left]

But the March sisters don't stay 12 to 16, so maybe they chose the cast more based on them later.

I agree with your last point - they presumably cast them so they would be appropriate throughout the entire story. I'm fine with that, considering 30-40 year-old actors regularly play high school kids on TV...
