Only critics are saying it's good. Most people are saying it's not great and some people even hate it, so there's no need to avoid anything.

My family liked it.

That isn't true at all. It has a great cinemascore.

(Anonymous) 2017-12-29 12:05 am (UTC)(link)
It got a lowish score on Rotten Tomatoes (51% liked it, Average Rating: 3.1/5), a mediocre score on IMDB (7.6/10), and a terrible score on Metacritic (4.7/10).

RT scores are useless to look at. As is IMDB. No clue about Metacritic but those first two are always bigraded.

Uh, some people have outright admitted to using bots on Rotten Tomatoes to lower the score.

(Anonymous) 2017-12-28 11:58 pm (UTC)(link)
Some CHUD types are boasting about gaming Rotten Tomatoes' viewer scores with bot reviews. Make of that what you will.

angry fans are louder by nature but almost everyone I know who went to see it enjoyed it

(Anonymous) 2017-12-29 12:29 am (UTC)(link)
Hello, friend! Now you've met me. And I though it was meh.

(Anonymous) 2017-12-29 12:35 am (UTC)(link)
*shrug*

I did say almost. I know there must be plenty of people who didn't like it. I just think it's worth noting that people who are complaining are going to be louder about ANYTHING, and lots of people do like it.

Personally, I thought it was a fun movie with a few great pieces that had too much stuff going on to really weave it all together smoothly, and way more engaging than TFA, which had kind of a glossy empty jjabrams tone going on for me.

who are "most people" and "some people"? those are basically meaningless phrases if they just refer to your social circle, which seems likely. (in my social circle most people liked it, but that's hardly representative of the whole fandom, either.)

(Anonymous) 2017-12-29 12:55 am (UTC)(link)
I'm talking about what I've seen on the Internet. I've seen very little positive response to it, and virtually no OMG IT WAS SO AWESOME.

(Anonymous) 2017-12-29 02:07 am (UTC)(link)
I have, with the exception of here, so make of that what you will...

I also can't help but note that F!S is notoriously hipster about popular movies lmao

not that I'm doubting anon, but there are a loooot of different sources of feedback, and F!S will invariably have a negative approach to a blockbuster

(Anonymous) 2017-12-29 01:35 am (UTC)(link)
That's certainly not the consensus by any means, and please don't try and rewrite history to make it one.

my best friend said it was good and he's not a professional movie critic
