Fifteen years after I first moved away from my parents, I've just bought my first dishwasher.

Is it worth it?

I live with my parents, but never had a dishwasher... don't even know how to use one.

different person obviously

I have a dishwasher (and have had one since I moved out of my parents' house 10 years ago) and have still not bothered getting it fixed after it broke like 2+ years ago and haven't missed it because I never used it. If you want the dishwasher to actually get your dishes clean, you have to scrape any food off of them first, and I feel like you can wash them by hand in the time it takes to scrape them off and put them in the dishwasher.

I almost never use mine, but then there's just my husband and me. Occasionally when we have a big family dinner, I might use it but honestly, if it broke I'm not sure I'd bother replacing it.

it helps with water bills.
personally I love my dishwasher as I'm too lazy to wash by hand.

Oh man...I'm currently living without a dishwasher for the first time since I was a kid, and I know this sounds entitled but I hate it. Washing by hand is time-consuming. I'm either doing dishes constantly, or they're piling up in the sink. And hunching over the sink so much hurts my back. With a dishwasher you can just...put them in. Gets them out of the way, and then when it's full you turn it on. When it's finished, you put them away. And idk, maybe this isn't a problem for most people, but it gives me peace of mind to know that the machine did a more thorough job than I'm capable of.

We bought a dishwasher about a month ago and it's the first time I've had one. It's... meh. I don't love it, but I don't hate it either.

I moved away 15 years ago, too, but I've never lived someplace where I could put in a dishwasher.
