Well, personally I draw the fuzzy line somewhere as follows: allies have your back no matter what, fetishists bail (or worse, get weirdly defensive or pushy) about the time that their kink is no longer being personally scratched. Unfortunately, this comes from experience with a straight partner who was down for gay porn and erotica but not particularly understanding when it came to being told, "no, I'm not comfortable doing a threesome primarily for your benefit."

Unfortunately, tumblr "discourse" is more about creating tribal signifiers and shibboleths than any kind of a nuanced discussion about, well, anything. No, liking mega-ship-of-the-month or m/m marketed to women isn't homophobic. It doesn't make you an advocate either.
