This secret is really confusing me, I'm sorry, what's your point?

(Anonymous) 2017-12-29 11:08 pm (UTC)(link)
I believe they're commenting on the absurdity of that person earnestly responding to the other person who was asking for a disparaging word they can use to describe their lesbian friend who is "fetishizing" lesbians by being into F/F ships and not caring about M/M ships.

(Anonymous) 2017-12-29 11:11 pm (UTC)(link)
That IS really stupid, I agree, OP

Wtf gay girls can't enjoy yuri without being accused of fetishizing? When it's their own orientation?

(Anonymous) 2017-12-29 11:13 pm (UTC)(link)
3 things

First of all, I'm confused about the initial poster's question. A fujoshi is a (presumptively) straight woman who enjoys pretty boys and yaoi, right? So wouldn't a reverse-fujoshi be a straight man who fetishizes yuri, not a lesbian who fetishizes yuri?

Second: IME, there is a stigma against straight men who are into f/f and yuri generally, and to be honest, it's also not an entirely unearned one. a lot of that culture - especially yuri fandom - is pretty aggressively shitty. There is nothing intrinsically wrong about it but fucked-up attitudes about purity and just general dickishness seem fairly common in those particular circles - at the very least, I think there tends to be a marked divide in the way that men and women tend to participate in f/f fandom. again, that's a generalization, not a hard-and-fast rule, but it's a generalization with some teeth to it.

Third: I have no idea what we're supposed to be laughing at here.

(Anonymous) 2017-12-29 11:18 pm (UTC)(link)
We're supposed to be laughing at the absurdity of wanting a disparaging nickname for a lesbian who likes lesbian stuff

(Anonymous) 2017-12-29 11:26 pm (UTC)(link)
OK, I can see that.

TBH, I think it was just so confusing that I couldn't even figure it out enough to laugh at it.

(Anonymous) 2017-12-29 11:25 pm (UTC)(link)
Goddamn, I am so glad I left Tumblr. Is this what's happening on there now? Fujoshi discourse?

(Anonymous) 2017-12-29 11:55 pm (UTC)(link)
Send your thanks to the yuri on ice fandom

(Anonymous) 2017-12-30 01:38 am (UTC)(link)
You mean the Yuri On Ice hatedom.

And the Killing Stalking hatedom.

Oh yeah, the fujoshi discourse is a big thing on Tumblr now. People going on about how liking yaoi means that you're automatically fetishizing gay people.

(Anonymous) 2017-12-29 11:26 pm (UTC)(link)
I've never heard the terms hime-joshi and hime-danshi. Is that for real? They sound a lot nicer than fujoshi and fudanshi.

(Anonymous) 2017-12-30 04:26 am (UTC)(link)
They are real though not so widely used, and they're not disparaging like fujoshi.

(Anonymous) 2017-12-30 05:44 am (UTC)(link)
I'm no expert on Japanese but I thought hime means princess? Joshi is adult woman and danshi is adult male.

(Anonymous) 2017-12-29 11:27 pm (UTC)(link)
Man, the english speaking homoerotica anime fandom is a special can of worms. It's the whole dick measuring contest of who is the most progressive. You've got the women who like BL that transdudes shit on because they're fetishing gay relationships and then you've got the yuri fans who think they're above it all and then the /other/ yuri fans who collectively have the biggest sexual hangup I have ever witnessed.

(Anonymous) 2017-12-29 11:28 pm (UTC)(link)
The secret truth underlying it is that actually all of anime fandom is terrible

Reverse.... fujoshi....? Yuri gay babies?

Pppbbbfffttttttt. I mean. Sure. Sure. If that's how they roll, sure. Pfft.

I agree with the blurred text about there not being a definite term. Afaik the yuri fans I've encountered (both male and female) just refer to themselves as yuri fans and I think that's easier to pronounce than hime-danshi/joshi.

(Anonymous) 2017-12-30 12:13 am (UTC)(link)
I don't get it. Why do we need a disparaging name for a lesbian that is into lesbian erotica? Isn't that... completely normal and expected?

This whole thing was too advanced for my poor brain.

(Anonymous) 2017-12-30 01:35 am (UTC)(link)
There's being into lesbian erotica but there are also definitely lesbians who fetishize it to a creepy degree, and I say this as a bi woman.

(Anonymous) 2017-12-30 12:38 am (UTC)(link)
i'm bi. i didn't think that had anything to do with what i am about to type, but... once looking deeper

last night i had a dream where i watched clexa having sex. once the foreplay got more intense, suddenly i became clarke and it was me and lexa (unfortunately she looked like a modern au!lexa and not full blown heda, but modern au!lexa has more access to soap).

i'm bi and became the bi character to fuck the lesbian raccoon

and i am real hime-joshi(tm)?

You said right at the start it was stupid, and yet when I read it, my jaw still dropped and my eyes rolled so hard I lost time. A lesbian... into f/f pairings... who doesn't care for m/m pairings... is fetishing... you know what, no,I can't even parse this stupidity. Good lord, what a maroon.

I'm bi and into f/f pairings and not m/m ones. I had no idea this was something that needed a name, though I've been called worse than "princess-girl."

(Actually I also like m/f pairings so I guess that just makes me ... a fan? I have no idea.)

I'm not sure why you blurred out the part where they loled at how stupid the asker was and how their question was ridiculous? They gave them some terms but they clearly don't think it's actually a thing and even say so. Why not leave that part unblurred so you can show that people agree with you?

(Anonymous) 2017-12-30 04:01 am (UTC)(link)
What do you call us lesbian fujoshi who fetishize anime bishounen and also rl women?

(Anonymous) 2017-12-30 05:14 am (UTC)(link)
what do you mean by "fetishize" here
