I've had males and females. Males tend to be gentler in my experience. I've never had an exam from anyone without a chaperone in the room and it's standard now where I live for all exams to be audio recorded for both the patient's and doctor's protection. I had a female hurt me and the recording was used as evidence that I expressed pain on multiple occasions and also asked her to stop the exam and that my chaperone had to intervene on my behalf because the doctor was so rough.
