I prefer women just because I'm self-conscious, but when I've been to male doctors, it's almost like they overcompensate to not make it awkward by being as professional and careful as possible. On the flip side, I've had female doctors who have made me uncomfortable. So if it's just about your personal nerves, see who you feel most comfortable seeing, but I don't think you'll find that how professional/gentle/careful they are is split by gender.
