They don't always phrase it like that, but there are definitely people who can't deal with the fact that the media they love exists apart from them, or who try to shut down discussions by assigning emotional weight to their position, e.g. "This WAS my childhood," "This got me through a really dark time," or "I used to watch this with my dad and then he died." None of that is a valid argument for why creators/copyright holders can't do whatever they want, or why no one is allowed to have a different opinion. It also ignores the fact that, inevitably, there are going to be plenty of other people who were obsessed with it as a kid or associate it with their dead dad or whatever, and it's pretty self-centered to act like you care about it more than anyone else and therefore yours is the only opinion that matters.

We all have a right to be disappointed in stuff - I sure have been at times - but throwing a tantrum is just embarrassing and trying to shut other people up is eyeroll-worthy.
